The Lost Dress
Mixed Media on Paper 30 x 22
I found a dress abandoned alongside a canyon road in Arizona. I snapped a photo of it and at the time I wondered whether it would be a photo that I would look at again. It haunted me. Of all the photos I took on that trip, it was this one that I remembered. The implications. Why was the dress left behind. Is it missed? Did the owner or owner's parent remember where she left it? Was it left by mistake or on purpose? Is it a memorial to a lost child? This painting is about loss and also rebirth. It encompasses the entire range from a small child's dress indicating new life, to the implication of the end of life.
